Life really can get busy at times, but it should never be so busy that we can't spend time with God. Christ is the source of all our strength; therefore, if we fail to continually be filled up by Him, sooner or later we will find ourselves burnt out.
9 So there is a special rest still waiting for the people of God.10 For all who have entered into God’s rest have rested from their labors, just as God did after creating the world. 11 So let us do our best to enter that rest... (Hebrews 4:9-11a, NLT)
Everything we do is supposed to be done from a place of rest - God's rest. That is a place of peace and trust in He who has already completed all things. As believers, we are no longer supposed to be living a life where we are striving to attain this or that, but one where our body and its actions are now for the will and purpose of God. If God tells us to do something, or that something will take place in our lives, there is no striving or "labour" that needs to take place. Yes, we may need to work (as faith without works is dead, James 2:26); however, we can rest knowing that He will do the thing through us.
for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose. (Philippians 2:13, NIV)
Scripture tells us that the rest of God is a special kind. It is not the same as sleeping or closing your eyes for a few winks. It is a spiritual place and state that we can actually remain in whether we are studying, training or working. No matter what we may practically be doing, we rest from "our own" works when we stop calling the shots in our lives and allow the Lord to have full control. If what we are doing is the Father's will, then we must also allow Him to empower us to continue and complete the task at hand and to cause it to bring forth the miraculous result that He said it would.
“Be still, and know that I am God!... (Psalm 46:10, NLT)
