Sometimes in life you feel as though you just don't know what to do. The Lord just seems quiet; He hasn't said that what you're doing is wrong, but neither has He given you any new instructions. It's in times like these that we just need to wait on the Lord.
Wait patiently for the Lord. Be brave and courageous. Yes, wait patiently for the Lord. (Psalm 27:14, NLT)
If the Lord is not saying anything, then we must simply continue in the last instruction He gave to us until He is ready to give the next. At times, the feeling of not knowing what to do is really just a misconception that we "should" be doing something other than what we are. However, the reality is, if God hasn't told you to go or do otherwise (despite your constant asking), then where you currently are and what you are currently doing are exactly where you should be.
8 “My thoughts are nothing like your thoughts,” says the Lord. “And my ways are far beyond anything you could imagine. 9 For just as the heavens are higher than the earth, so my ways are higher than your ways and my thoughts higher than your thoughts. (Isaiah 55:8-9, NLT)
God does not think like us. We often look around us or compare ourselves to others. We make assumptions about what we think we should be doing based on what others might be doing or examples we have seen. Nevertheless, God's thinking and planning is never based on anything we could "imagine". When He has us continuing in a place or season longer than we anticipated, know that it is simply not the appointed time yet; perhaps you are not quite ready for the next phase of your journey. Or, on the other hand, perhaps others are not quite ready... Either way, the Lord knows best and we have to learn to trust His judgement.
For everything there is a season, a time for every activity under heaven. (Ecclesiastes 3:1, NLT)
