Everyone has to start somewhere. It's easy to look at people you deem successful and assume they got there overnight; however, everyone has a story - everyone has a journey.
The earth produces the crops on its own. First a leaf blade pushes through, then the heads of wheat are formed, and finally the grain ripens. (Mark 4:29, NLT)
God has created this world with principles that govern both the natural and supernatural. One of those principles is that the Lord grows things step by step. Whether it be our physical bodies that grow step by step as we mature through life; our spiritual lives which start as a small seed of faith, but develop and grow into a huge tree; or even our businesses, ministries or careers. Things need time to grow and we must be patient and diligent as they do.
“If you are faithful in little things, you will be faithful in large ones. But if you are dishonest in little things, you won’t be honest with greater responsibilities. (Luke 16:10, NLT)
As a good Father, Abba God only gives us more as we prove we can handle more. Often times we think we are "ready" for larger, bigger or better, when we haven't yet conquered the level of responsibility that we currently have. If we are selfish, prideful and unreliable when nobody knows our name, why would that change if we suddenly become well known? God is more interested in what is taking place in our hearts than the place He is taking us to, this is often why the journey seems to take so long. Our physical circumstances are supposed to be influenced by our internal state. If and when we are fruitful internally, surely the Lord will allow that fruit to be seen externally also, but to see this, we must remain. The journey may be different for everyone, but the starting point is always the same. Only when you begin can you expect to reach the destination God has planned for you; therefore...
Do not despise these small beginnings, for the Lord rejoices to see the work begin...(Zechariah 4:10, NLT)
