Confidence on judgement day

So much of 1 John has been about love; God’s love and our love for one another. Truly in a word the gospel is love, but a love so different from what we’ve come to understand in society. Love is the fruit of the Spirit; it begins as a seed when we receive Christ, but the more we live in Him and grow the more we see it manifested in our lives.

17 And as we live in God, our love grows more perfect. So we will not be afraid on the day of judgment, but we can face him with confidence because we live like Jesus here in this world.18 Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.

As believers, we are saved by faith. We trust God that He will accept us because of what Jesus has done; and Love’s affects in us and on us only continues to solidify our assurance of salvation. We do not have to fear standing face to face with God because we already know Him and know that He accepts us in Christ.
